APSC Syllabus & New Rules 2019 & Upcoming - Syllabus, Books, Tips

As the Government of Assam has made some new provisions and set the subsequent rules to amend the Assam Public Services Combined (APSC) Competitive Examination Rules, 1989.

Main Points of the APSC (Assam) Competitive Exam (Amendment) Rules of 2019 :

(1) The mains exam contains written exam and interview.
The written exam shall contains 1 Essay Paper, 5 papers on subject of General Studies and a couple of papers on anybody Optional subject. There shall be 2 qualifying paper to check the Language communication skill of a candidate. Marks thus obtained by a candidates within the mains exam (Written spare Interview) would be determined their final ranking.

(2) Scheme and Subject for the Preliminary (Prelims) Examination :

The preliminary exam (Objective Type) shall contains 2 Papers -

(i) Paper-1 = General Studies I

200 Marks 2 Hours Duration

(ii) Paper-2 = General Studies II

200 Marks 2 Hours Duration

Total - 400 Marks

Total qualifying marks for Paper-I General Studies I of Combined Competitive (Prelims) Examination could also be determined by the Commission.

Paper 1 : General Studies I shall be set in such how that 30% to 35% of questions shall compulsorily relate to Assam.

Paper 2 : General Studies II shall have the minimum qualifying marks of 33% (percent)

3. Schemes and Subjects for the most Examination:

The Mains Examination shall contain Written Examination and an Interview (Personality) test.

The written exam shall contains 8 papers of conventional essay type & objective type with limited words and a couple of qualifying Language papers (Class 10 level). Marks obtained in Interview for Preliminary Test shall be counted for ranking.

Details of Papers for Main Examination:

(i) Paper 1

Type of Paper: Essay

Marks: 250

Duration in hours: 3

(ii) Paper 2 to six

Type of Paper: General Studies

Marks: 250 for every paper

Duration in hours: 3 for every paper

(iii) Paper 7

Type of Paper: Optional Subject, Paper I

Marks: 250

Duration in hours: 3

(iv) Paper 8

Type of Paper: Optional Subject, Paper 2

Marks: 250

Duration in hours: 3

(v) Interview Test (After qualifying in written test)

Marks: 275

Total Marks: 2275

Qualifying Papers (Class X level):

1. Paper A (300 Marks - 3 Hours Duration)— anybody of the language from Assamese, Bengali, Bodo. Candidates from Dima Hasao, Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong Districts who had not studied any of those languages in class shall be exempted from appearing for qualifying language papers.

2. Paper B - English (300 Mark & Have 3 Hours Duration)

The list of Optional subjects for the most Examination :

(The standard and syllabus of the Optional subjects are approximately those of Degree Level Course of the Universities)

5. Marks shall not be allotted for mere superficial knowledge.

6. Candidates are going to be required to use online using the web site .The online Applications are often filled up to the Judgment Day for submission as fixed by the Commission. All eligible candidate shall be issue an e-Admission Certificate (Admit Card) three weeks before the commencement of the examination. The e-Admission Certificate are going to be made available within the Commission website for downloading by candidates. No Admission Certificate are going to be sent by post.
